ClimateTrade supports the decarbonization of the banking sector through its marketplace and API. Our solutions have been implemented by financial institutions including Santander, Banco Sabadell, MAPFRE and Caixabank.
Banks can choose to offset their scope 1 and 2 emissions directly on the marketplace, or integrate the ClimateTrade API into their platforms and mobile applications to offer end clients the option to offset the carbon footprint of their transactions, thus tackling scope 3 emissions.
A periodical report can be sent to customers with a summary of their transactions and associated CO2 emissions. When they choose to offset their footprint, the corresponding monetary amount is debited directly from their account. At the end of the offset process, they automatically receive a personalized certificate with information about the project they have supported with their contribution.
In 2020 we were awarded the Banco Santander tender to offset the company’s carbon footprint worldwide.
Banco Sabadell has teamed up with ClimateTrade to offset the CO2 emissions associated with its operations in 2021, by investing in forest projects in Spain.
